Introducing Career Week and Industry Night

Are you searching for your first full-time job?  Trying to build the toolkit necessary for a successful job search?  Want exposure to employers for future prospects?  If you relate to any of these questions, then don’t miss the first ever Career Week!

Career Week lasts from Tuesday, September 3rd through Friday, September 13th, but the beauty of the “week” (it’s actually 9 days) is that YOU can choose events from a large menu based on what suits your goals.  Offerings range from a technical interviewing workshop to a networking practice session (in a low stakes environment) to mini mock interviews…and SO much more!  You can view a snapshot of events here.  You can also log into Handshake to view full details for each event and to RSVP.  This program is geared towards rising juniors, graduating seniors, and graduate students, but if you are a motivated first or second year student we won’t stop you!

The opportunities to connect with employers hiring Ohio State engineering students is the hallmark of Career Week.  Each day, an “Employer of the Day” is being featured, which means you have the chance to meet company representatives, attend their programming, and begin to stand out as a possible candidate by showing up at their special events.  Mark your calendar because the schedule for the Employer of the Day is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 3: Navy
  • Wednesday, Sept. 4: GE
  • Thursday, Sept. 5: Eaton
  • Friday, Sept. 6: American Woodmark
  • Monday, Sept. 9: Lincoln Electric
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10: Honeywell
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11:  General Motors
  • Thursday, Sept. 12: Cummins
  • Friday, Sept. 13: Capital One

The culminating event for Career Week is Industry Night.  Industry Night is part employer panel and part networking/mini career fair with 20+ companies.  This is a great warm up for Expo and a way for you to get in front of companies in a more intimate environment (let’s be honest, the career fair crowds can be a lot!).  Put on your professional duds, bring your resume, and get ready to mix and mingle with companies that are looking to hire you. Secure a spot at Industry Night with your RSVP on Handshake now.  We hope to see you at the upcoming Career Week events!
