ECS Office

ECS serves alumni seeking initial post-graduate career opportunities

Eligibility

You need to be registered with ECS in order to apply for jobs through Handshake or have advising appointments. If you graduated fewer than 12 months ago and didn’t register with ECS while in school, it’s not too late!  You may do so now by following the registration instructions in the “students” tab of this website (Students>Registering with ECS>How to Register).  If you graduated more than 12 months ago, you can still register and use Handshake, but you will not be able to make advising appointments.  Exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances.

Handshake

Students who graduated have full access to their Handshake account. This provides:

  • resources
  • employer directory
  • job search function
  • ability to apply to job postings

Advising

On a very limited basis, alumni can schedule an individual career consultation appointment at Engineering Career Services. Due to staffing limitations, we regret that alumni appointments are rarely available with ECS during peak seasons. Alumni who have graduated more than 12 months ago should seek advising with the Bill and Susan Lhota Office of Alumni Career Management.

Accessing Handshake

  • Use your Ohio State name, dot number, and password to access Handshake
    • Alum who have graduated since AU17 have preloaded accounts and can begin using the system immediately
    • Alum who graduated prior to AU17 will need to wait up to 1-3 business days after signing in to Handshake because we will need to handbuild your account
