Intern Week

Intern Week (January 16 – January 19, 2024) primarily targets first and second year students in their pursuit of an internship or co-op.  It is strategically placed before the SWE fair (January 29 & 30, 2024) and is packed with in-person and virtual events to help students feel confident and comfortable navigating the fair and the spring job search.

Participants

  • ALL engineering students are welcome to participate, as the programs cover a wide variety of topics and are not solely related to internships and co-ops.

Open Format

  • Events are conveniently spread out during the day throughout the week.  Based on your class schedule and interest, attend as many events as you can.

  • To attend these events, please follow the instructions listed in the event's Handshake page.  Sponsor company coffee and conversations meetings and mock interviews must be scheduled in advance.

What to Expect

A customizable menu of events will be offered throughout the week.

Workshops, Drop-ins and Pop-up Events: Enhance your knowledge of resume building, career fair success, interviewing, crafting an elevator pitch, and international student job search strategies during interactive online and in-person programs.

Headshots: Stop in to the ECS office between 9am-11am Tuesday for a free headshot that you can then add to your LinkedIn and Handshake profiles.  Photos will be taken with your phone for immediate use.

Prizes!: Intern Week long-sleeve t-shirts and College of Engineering beanie hats will be given away throughout the week. There will also be additional giveaways during Intern Day.

Intern Day: Thursday, January 18:

  • Coffee and Conversations with Sponsor Companies: Schedule time in the morning to meet 1:1 with our sponsor companies to learn about their upcoming employment opportunities and ask any questions you have about their program. This is also a great time for job search advice or a quick resume review. Coffee and Buckeye Donuts will be served.
  • Mock Interviews with Sponsor Companies: Sign up in advance to meet 1:1 with our sponsoring companies in the afternoon to practice interviewing and receive feedback from a company representative.
  • Intern Exchange: Attend this session in the evening and hear from current Ohio State engineering students in this casual setting to learn more about their past experiences and intern/co-op opportunities at the companies for which they worked.

2024 Intern Exchange

The Intern Exchange is the Signature Event for ECS’ Intern Week. Join current or former interns representing a variety of employers as they share their experiences and tips for securing an internship/ co-op. This is a casual opportunity to learn more about internship projects and programs from fellow Buckeyes. Bring your questions and learn from interns about how to stand out from the competition.
