Are Employers Still Looking for Candidates?

Posted:

As warmer weather rolls in and the school year draws to a close, you may be wondering about the next steps in your job search. A common worry among students in the spring semester is that it is too late to land a position. We’re here to reassure you that there are still opportunities left to fine tune your skills as a job seeker, conduct a search, and connect with employers. ECS has an array of activities and events planned for you to take part in, offered throughout the rest of the semester!

The Engineering Spring into Your Career Fair, held on April 6th, is a great way to connect with employers hiring for summer and fall opportunities. This event will be held in the Performance Hall of the Ohio Union, accommodating 32 employers for a boutique-style career fair feel. Wondering how to prepare? Mark your calendars from 2pm to 5pm and get registered for the fair on Handshake. Prepare an elevator pitch and apply to open positions before meeting with the companies attending. ECS will also be holding a “Job Search 101” event two days prior as part of our Buckeye Engineers Work (BEW) campaign, where we will be overviewing how to craft an effective resume, interact with employers at the career fair, and interview successfully.

From April 4th to April 25th, Engineering Career Services will be holding our annual Buckeye Engineers Work campaign to support those searching for positions and recognize those who have landed roles. We have something for everyone! In addition to Job Search 101, we’re going to be popping up in the Hitchcock Hall lobby on Monday, April 11th for a booth on Interviewing. We’ll be handing out coffee and donuts from campus favorite Buckeye Donuts to give you a boost for the day. Curious about how to negotiate with a future employer on your salary or terms of a job offer? Sign up for time between 10am to 11:30am on Wednesday, April 20th (hybrid options available) with an ECS advisor on how to craft your negotiation script. On April 21st, an ECS advisor will be holding a workshop in Hitchcock 410 on alternative experiences and using your summer break effectively, taking place from 4 – 5pm. The best part of our Buckeye Engineers Work campaign? Participation in the activities or appointments with ECS advisors and Peer Coaches earns you an entry into our raffle for one of ten $30 Amazon gift cards! Visit the BEW page for job seekers for more details and the full list of events.

Long story short, it is not too late to conduct an effective job search! Your next opportunity could be waiting for you at the Engineering Spring into Your Career Fair and the events in our Buckeye Engineers Work lineup will prepare you to land a role!
