Important changes coming to your ECS job search account

Posted: May 17, 2012

First things first—login to your ECS job search account and download any resumes you have saved to the job search system and save them to your PC prior to June 1.

Why do this? Ohio State is consolidating all career services job search systems this summer (starting June 1). Engineering Career Services and the online engineering job search system will be part of a larger OSU system of career services called the Buckeye Careers Network. The consolidation is happening in order to create a “one stop shop” for all OSU students to conduct their online job search through a single resource. This means that your job search account is going to be somewhat different than what you are used to. Some major changes that you will notice include:

  • A new name…the engineering version of the new job search system is being named CareerEngine. It’s essentially still your job search account, but with enhancements.

  • Login will be different…you will use your OSU email and your OSU password to access CareerEngine. ECS will not be generating passwords for logging in to the system.

  • There will be broader access to jobs and companies… the new version will show every job opportunity available for Ohio State students—not just in engineering—however, you will still be able to do key word searches, set up saved search agents, and identify engineering employers/opportunities through CareerEngine.

  • No user data will be transferred from the old system to the new one...thus the reason it’s important that you save any stored resumes from your job search account that you wish to retrieve from the old system before June 1, 2012. Login to your existing job search account here.

This transition is set to take place June 1-30. During the month of June, ECS will be providing limited online services, and you won’t be able to access your job search account. Since employer access to CareerEngine will also be restricted for the month of June, no new positions will be posted. Any positions you've already applied for will not be affected.

Once CareerEngine is up and running, you will have access to similar services you had in the past. ECS will continue to provide career, co-op, and internship advising and programming-as well as access to employers and on-campus recruiting-to help you meet your professional goals.

In July, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log into the new CareerEngine system. Once logged in, you may review and post your biographic and academic profiles, upload a resume, and apply for jobs.

Thanks in advance for your patience as we make these changes, and we look forward to continuing to help engineering students with their career, co-op, and internship endeavors!
