Moving to a new location is often followed by the excitement of exploring restaurants, shops, and nearby neighborhoods. But prior to your move, it may seem overwhelming as you select housing and familiarize yourself with transportation. The Ohio State Engineering Job Shadow Program is a unique way for you to connect with employers. It’s rare that you get to spend the better part of a day learning about a specific company or industry on-site and meeting a variety of company representatives. Also noteworthy? Typically in the world of recruitment, the employer chooses you. With job shadow, so long as you match the event’s criteria and can transport yourself to the event, YOU get to decide what employers you would like to visit. Last year, ~80% of employers participating in job shadow stated that they used the program as a recruitment tool. So it’s very possible that your time spent developing insights and connections at the shadow could lead to future employment. One-way recorded video (on-demand) interviewing, otherwise known as “asynchronous” interviews, are on the rise and since it can be somewhat awkward for candidates, it is all the better to be prepared! What exactly are these types of interviews, you ask? They are conducted with software that companies use for distance interviewing that takes the place of an actual “live” person asking you the questions.
