Welcome back--get excited for the 2016-2017 school year!

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your summer, whether you were doing a summer internship or co-op, travelling, or working to earn some extra cash.  We have a very exciting semester ahead here in ECS!

  • We are offering a variety of special events like our mock interview week starting August 29th; a lot of workshops on topics such as Building Your Professional Network, Interview Strategies, and more!
  • The Engineering Career Success Conference is on Friday, Sept. 16--the deadline to register is Wednesday, August 31!
  • Engineering Expo is around the corner, Sept 20th - 21st at the Ohio Union. Please note the new time is from 1-6pm for both days.  
  • Numerous opportunities to engage with employers and many, many resources to help you get prepared for your job search.

Why You Should Job Shadow: An Engineering Student's Perspective

Are you looking for a chance to meet with top OSU employers and learn more about being an engineer? If so, consider signing up for the 2016 Job Shadow Program! The Job Shadow Program is a one day commitment over Spring Break (March 14-18). You can sign up for more than one shadow if you’d like. Below you’ll find Matt Glasgow’s (ISE student) insight into his job shadow experience during the 2015 program.

Where did you job shadow last year?

I attended a job shadow at LuK USA located in Wooster, Ohio. LuK is a German based company from the parent company Schaeffler, and they make torque converters for cars and trucks.

SWE Career Fair Admissions--Important Changes This Year!

You may have heard that no career fair programs are being printed and sold this year.  Is this true?  It is!  Paper programs will no longer be printed and sold for any engineering career fairs!  The complete program information is available via the OSU Career Fair Plus app and the app is free.  Search for the OSU Career Fair Plus app on the App Store or Google Play Store.

Prefer a paper version of the program?  We understand that some students might still like having a hard copy of the program, so we are making the full version available for you to print.  Please check the swefair.engineering.osu.edu or ecs.osu.edu websites after January 25th.

Calling All First Year Engineering Students: Sign Up for the 2015 Gear-Up!

First year students are able to begin ECS registration after 1.5 semesters (or around spring break). The First Year Gear-Up is a FREE opportunity exclusively for first-year students to get the inside scoop on internship/ co-op preparation and to register with ECS early! Event registration opens November 4th and invitations to participate will be sent via email to all qualifying students. The event has limited spots available—so mark your calendars and sign up early.

This conference-style event takes place on December 4th from 2:30pm-7:30pm. Jumpstart your professional journey by attending three alternating sessions (resumes, interviewing, job search) presented by ECS counselors with representatives from GE providing additional professional perspectives and advice. The Gear-Up is specifically tailored to the internship/ co-op search needs of students early in their academic career and is a MUST for motivated students.
