Welcome back to campus! I took a walk the other day around the stadium and heard the percussion section practicing nearby —so I know the time is near.
As the busy fall semester unfolds and you begin to figure out your classes, homework, and activities load, don’t forget to add events happening with Engineering Career Services to your calendar. The Engineering Expo is right around the corner— September 26th and 27th at the Ohio Union from 1:00pm – 6:00pm. We are proud to be the host, along with Engineers’ Council, to one of the biggest job fairs at Ohio State!

Making connections. Landing Interviews. Receiving job offers. Many engineering students have mastered the art of a successful career fair. It’s an overwhelming experience, but if you prepare well, it can also be the start of a fruitful job search. This year, ECS implemented a new program that gives seniors the chance to “give back” to the college and help other students in their co-op/internship and full-time job search.
Who they are:
“Career Fair Coaches” are graduating seniors who have had great success at prior fairs and in their search. They are students who are energetic and have excellent communication skills. They have maintained solid GPAs and have completed multiple co-op or internship rotations. Most importantly, they have a desire to help other students be successful too!
What they do:
Career Fair Coaches are assisting ECS in preparing students for the upcoming fair in two main ways:

Today's posting is written by Ben Heimbach, who is a Chemical Engineering student graduating in December 2017. He has had two internships at Goodyear and attributes much of his success to being career fair ready.
In my time at Ohio State, I have attended two Engineering Expos, one SWE Career Fair, and info sessions for Marathon, General Mills, Nestle, Goodyear and L’Oréal. I have landed interviews with Goodyear, Nestle, General Mills, Campbell’s and Ingevity from the career fair. I have then gone on to land phone interviews, webcam interviews and on-site interviews.
Preparation for the fair begins for me by looking through the company list that ECS puts out. I choose companies to talk to based on a number of factors. I choose 4-5 companies that are within my scope of study that are larger companies that I am interested in. These lines will most likely be longer than the others so I … Read More

You may have heard that no career fair programs are being printed and sold this year. Is this true? It is! Paper programs will no longer be printed and sold for any engineering career fairs! The complete program information is available via the OSU Career Fair Plus app and the app is free. Search for the OSU Career Fair Plus app on the App Store or Google Play Store.
Prefer a paper version of the program? We understand that some students might still like having a hard copy of the program, so we are making the full version available for you to print. Please check the swefair.engineering.osu.edu or ecs.osu.edu websites after January 25th.
In the past, the paper program has served as your admission ticket. Going forward, your BuckID and a printed name badge will serve as your admission ticket. … Read More
