"Careers in..." Educational and Networking Event Series

When many people think about engineering careers, design engineering is often the first to come to mind. Others might think of career options like test engineer, quality control engineer, product engineer, etc. The beauty of this field is that there are SO many paths, students often don’t realize all of the options available to them! In ECS we meet with a variety of employers, many of which are trying to find talent for more unique technical careers that perhaps students don’t immediately think of when they hear “engineering.” Enter the new “Careers in…” series happening this February!

“Careers in…” is a 3 night series offering students insights into less traditional (but exciting) engineering career paths. Any engineering student is welcome to attend, and you may come to just 1 of the nights, or all 3! Here is the lineup:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20th: Careers in Consulting
  • Wednesday, Feb. 21st: Careers in Technical Sales
  • Thursday, Feb. 22nd: Careers in Startups

Each night will feature 5-7 representatives from a variety of companies. The format will be very informal (“open house style”) and allow you to come and go as your schedule allows. Pop in for 10 minutes or an hour to learn more about what a particular career is like, what skills are optimal, what companies you could consider, etc. It’s perfect if you are simply exploring engineering roles and want to expand your knowledge. It’s also great if you already know you want to work in this particular job, as you will be networking with individuals who may be able to eventually connect you with opportunities. Everyone appreciates free food, so of course there will also be refreshments!

We hope you’ll take advantage of this new learning and networking format. Our employer partners were very excited to be a part of these events, and we think you’ll leave feeling like you have an idea of whether or not these career options might be a fit for you.
