Consider attending the upcoming campus-wide Career & Internship Fair

Did you know that Ohio State has a campus-wide career fair that is for all majors and all degree levels?  If that’s not clear enough—this includes engineering, so mark your calendar!  The 2015 Career & Internship Fair is a three day event, happening next week—on Sept. 15-16 (the two day fair) PLUS Sept. 17 (the on-campus interview day).

Here are some reasons you should consider attending in addition to the Engineering Expo:

  1. Recognize that there are a LOT of companies attending—198 to be exact.  Download the OSU Career Fair Plus app on your phone if you don’t already have it (you will use it for EXPO too!).  Go to “Employers”--> ”Filters” and narrow down by major, degree level, etc. to come up with a list of companies to target.
  2. Know that not as many engineering students will attend this fair as EXPO.  This may give you an advantage, as you are not competing against as many of your peers as you will be at the engineering focused fair.
  3. Double the face time with your favorite employers.  Many employers have the same company reps at the campus job fairs.  If you connect with the same reps twice, they are going to start to recognize you and see that you are truly interested in their company
  4. Use it as an opportunity to fine-tune your elevator pitch and hone your networking skills while connecting with employers pre-EXPO.

Now that I’ve convinced you to attend, visit the 2015 Career & internship Fair webpage for full details, including times, locations, and how to prepare.  We’ll see you on Sept. 22-24 at the Engineering EXPO and next day interviews!

"Take advantage of every opportunity to practice your communication skills so that when important occasions arise, you will have the gift, the style, the sharpness, the clarity, and the emotions to affect other people."
