Engineering Career Success Conference (Are You Ready?)

It’s hard to believe that the summer is almost over and fall semester is right around the corner. I'm not sure what your summer highlights were, but definitely at the top of my list was the 2014 FIFA World Cup! Even though the U.S. didn’t make it all the way to then end, we had some great games, and I am already looking forward to the 2018 World Cup. It’s crazy to think that four years of preparation and anticipation goes into this one season, but I think that’s what makes it so great!

As the summer wraps up, many of you are heading into you first full-time engineering career search. In a similar fashion, you have spent the last four (or more) years preparing for this season too. Almost 70% of our on-campus interviews take place in the fall and the Engineering Expo will be here before you know it too. So the question is….are you ready?

If you are within one year of graduation, benefit from some expert advice on the career search and obtain networking opportunities with employers.  Do so by registering for the second annual Engineering Career Success Conference (ECSC). This year’s conference will be on Saturday, September 6th from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Here are some reasons why you don’t want to miss it:

  • Customizable Breakout Sessions – Last year’s breakout sessions were a huge success, and this year we're putting even more focus on the topics that you want. This year look for sessions like: “Using Your Strengths in the Job Search,” “Salary Negotiation,” and “Surviving and Thriving in Technical Interviews.”
  • Networking & Employer Interactions– The networking portion of the conference includes a networking crash-course and networking roundtables where you meet multiple company representatives about the areas of engineering and career paths that interest you.
  • Keynote Speaker – This year’s speaker will be Traci Nathans-Kelly, PhD. She is an expert in technical communication and will be speaking about how to communicate technical ideas to non-engineers.  This is such an important skill set for you to develop--both for the interview process, but also for your longterm career.
  • Timing – The conference is positioned to help prepare you for the job search right before peak recruiting season begins in the fall. And with an end time of 4:30, you will have plenty of time on Saturday before the night game begins at 8pm. Trust me, we don’t want to miss the festivities or game either!!
  • Perks – Not only do you get to hear from an expert keynote speaker, choose from several breakout sessions, and network with employers; there will be networking with your peers, breakfast, lunch, a padfolio, and numerous of chances to win free stuff!

So what are you waiting for?! We have a limited number of spots left so RSVP soon! The conference only costs $25, and registration will end on Friday, August 15th or when all spots are filled.
