SWE Career Fair Details

Today's blog is written by Amy Franklin, ECS' Employer Services Coordinator.  She manages both engineering career fairs on campus.

Don’t miss the 2013 SWE Career Fair next week on Wednesday, February 6th from 11:00am-4:00pm! The event is sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), but it is open to ALL engineering students, not just women.  The career fair will be held at the Ohio Union with companies in two locations – the Performance Hall on the 1st floor and the Grand Ballroom on the 2nd floor.  Be sure to check out BOTH locations, as there will be representatives from over 140 companies on hand to discuss their co-op, internship, and career employment opportunities!  More information is located on the SWE Career Fair website.

It’s time to start preparing by attending a career fair success workshop, getting your career fair professional attire together,  and working on your “elevator speech.”  We encourage you to purchase a program in advance in order to research the companies and organize your time efficiently.  Advanced program sales ($3) will take place in the ECS Lobby (Hitchcock Hall) on:

  • Thursday, January 31st 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Friday, February 1st 8:30am-12:00pm
  • Monday, February 4th 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Tuesday, February 5th 8:30am-4:30pm

On the day of the career fair, you will be required to check your coat and book bag on the 1st floor in the Great Hall Meeting Room.  You will then go to Student Registration on the 2nd floor – follow the signs.  If you didn’t purchase your program in advance, they will be for sale ($3) on the day of the career fair on the 2nd floor outside of the Grand Ballroom in the Student Registration area.  Note:  Lines for program sales on the day of the career fair may be very long.

Finally, are you looking for a padfolio for your resumes, notes, and to store business cards you collect from employers?  The Engineering Co-op & Internship honorary, Kappa Theta Epsilon (KTE), will be selling padfolios for $15 (cash or check only payable to Kappa Theta Epsilon) before all the career fair success workshops, at ECS, and in the Student Registration line on the 2nd floor of the Ohio Union at the career fair.

Best of luck to you in your search for a co-op, internship, or career employment!
