Get a head start on becoming a Professional Engineer!

If you are graduating this coming spring or summer quarter, you can apply now to take the spring 2011 Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE). If your career goals include becoming a Professional Engineer (P.E.), applying for the FE is the first step towards realizing that objective! Although you can wait to take the FE until after you graduate, many engineers find the knowledge freshest in their mind while they are still in school...thus making the test less daunting.

To apply you must obtain a letter from the Dean...Wednesday, January 9, 2011 is the date by which you need to request this document from the College of Engineering Student Services' office. ECS Move & Holiday Break Hours

Autumn quarter always seems to rush by...the colorful leaves fall from the trees, the days get shorter, the air gets colder...before we know it, the season changes to winter. The weather isn't the only thing that's changed around here...ECS is moving! We are saying goodbye to Mason Hall and heading back to our permanent home, Hitchcock Hall. Due to the move, we will be closed on Tuesday, December 14th and Wednesday, December 15th. We'll resume meeting with students after Friday, December 17th in our renovated space in 199 HI. If you're around, Winter break is an optimal time to meet with an advisor to discuss your job search. ECS will be open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Use your free time over the holiday break-to evaluate & improve your job search efforts!

Now that winter break is near, we hope you will have some time to reflect upon your fall quarter job search. Was it successful or is there still work to be done? If your job search was a success, congratulations on your job offer (and please report it - see the link at the bottom)! For those of you that are still looking, this is a great time to think about what you can do to improve your job search. Were you getting too few first interviews? Do you feel your interviewing performance needs work? Were your efforts focused only around Expo? (Keep in mind, a career fair is just ONE way to look for jobs-not THE way, or the most effective way.) Did you utilize the entire quarter to apply for positions?
