2020 Employer of the Year Award Winner

Congrats to the winner of the 2020 Employer of the Year Award, MPR Associates, Inc. Below are excerpts from the nomination submitted by Mechanicial Engineering student, Sam Redman, who worked there during the Spring and Summer 2020 terms. 

"How many other companies are willing to put a co-op on real-world projects for nuclear power clients? MPR puts its trust in me as an engineer. They understand the risks involved in having a co-op work on projects, billing time to a project with a set budget, but they put their trust in me which makes me comfortable and confident in the work I do."

"Mentorship was provided by almost every engineer I worked with on the various projects. When I was working with someone either in a larger or smaller role, it was evident that the engineers I worked with weren't simply focused on the task at hand. They wanted to provide me more background and knowledge than needed to make sure that I was learning and developing while also completing my work. This was one of the most useful aspects of MPR. Everyone was so willing to take the time to help me learn instead of just stopping at what was needed for the project."

"The background knowledge and information I gathered from the MPR engineers was extensive. I was constantly learning and understanding topics better than I had before. There is a clear distinction at MPR between hiring someone to complete work and hiring someone to develop them as an engineer. Everyone at MPR from the principal officers down to the new hires is clearly committed to this. This helped me learn a lot more than I could have. Engineers were also forthcoming with feedback that made it easy for me to develop and change even throughout my co-op."
